THE week long 2012 Crest Fiji Agriculture Show in Lautoka which ended yesterday was a success says Lautoka City Council special administrator Praveen Bala.
In his closing speech Mr Bala thanked the Agriculture Ministry and stakeholders for making the first-ever Lautoka show a success.
He said the show had given much needed confidence to the farmers in the Western Division after being hit with two floods early this year.
"At this juncture I would like to extend the council's invitation to the Ministry of Agriculture to host the national agriculture show once again in Lautoka next year," said Mr Bala.
"Many farmers in the west lost most of their crops and livestock but they have displayed a never-say-die attitude and the success of the show is a testimony to their courage in overcoming the battering of mother nature.
"I have received positive feedback from many. They not only admired the display but also obtained useful knowledge of the practices and experiences of the exhibitors.
"Many will apply this knowledge to their own farms and businesses and as well as part of the 'grow your own food initiative'," he said.
