ACCESS to your own personal credit report and credit history just got easier as the Data Bureau and Vodafone teamed up yesterday to offer online credit report services and payments enabled through M-PAiSA services.
The services enabled through the partnership will allow anyone in Fiji to access their own credit report through the Data Bureau's online service and pay their dues through M-PAiSA.
Bureau general manager Delores Elliott said the new service did not necessitate travelling to Suva — where the bureau's only office was located — to establish information required.
The services also ruled out the need for bureau offices in other parts of the country, she said.
Consumers can now log on to the bureau website to verify their credit information at the cost of $20, she said.
"Once the customer's verification process is cleared, the report is sent via email to the customer within 24 hours," Ms Elliot said, adding that the initiative would help customers make informed decisions. "This helps businesses reduce default rates and bad debts through a better credit access screening process for credit clients."
Vodafone Fiji M-PAiSA and corporate affairs manager Shailendra Prasad said the move was all about making financial services more accessible.
"It's about using technology for greater productivity gains. A good sum of individual and business credit ratings means a better credit rating for the nation as a whole," he said.
