Sevens rugby helps to raise money

Get ready for the Services Sevens 2012 launched on August 3, 2012. The event promises sheer rugby, an initiative by the Fiji Naval Association for the welfare of the Senior Members of the Fiji Naval Association.

The event supported by Captian Cook Cruises will feature 20 teams that include four teams of the Fiji Army, four of the Fiji Police, four of the Fiji Prisons, four of the National Fire Authority of Fiji and four of the Fiji Navy.

The Services Sevens 2012 is scheduled to be played at Ratu Cakobau Park between Friday and Saturday 9 and 10 November 2012. The choice of the dates is for the Services Sevens to be played on the weekend immediately before "Remembrance Day" of November 11.

The "Initiative" has been endorsed by the Commander RFMF (the Commander Land Force and the Chief of Navy), the Commissioner of Police, the Commissioner of Prisons and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Fire Authority.

The Fiji Rugby Union has also endorsed the Services Sevens. The Nausori Town Councils has given the approval for the Services Sevens 2012.

A number of companies have also indicated their commitment to sponsor the Services Sevens. The Fiji Naval Association intends to make the Services Sevens an annual event and it intends to progress towards an annual Regional Services Sevens and towards a World Services Sevens.
