IN its efforts to assist those still suffering from the March flood, the Red Cross in Nadi is pleading to business houses and corporate bodies to assist by giving relief items or money to its cause.

Red Cross Nadi president Dr Mohammed Yunus said people who the aid group looked after would always need help.

"We catered for more than 3000 people during the March floods and spent close to half a million dollars," said Dr Yunus.

"And now that a few months have passed, there are still people who are looking for help.

"Right now people need clothes and household items because during the floods many people lost belongings like clothes, household items and even accessories.

"These are some of the things that they lost which we hope to give back to them."

Dr Yunus pleaded with private companies and corporate bodies to come forward with whatever they could give to help these people.

"I just want to urge these businesses to help and give whatever they can because people are still in need," he said.

On Wednesday, Dr Yunus received cartons of clothes from Yacht Partners Fiji.

"Clothes are a need and we will always welcome any kind of donation, cash or kind, to help the needy people of Nadi."
