It was like a home coming for Team Fiji when they visited the renowned British aircraft carrier HMS Ocean yesterday.

"There's only a couple of us on board but for us to have the Fijian Olympic team come on board is such a big thing for us," said Eta Tora, the only female Fijian naval officer on board HMS Ocean.

Team Fiji is almost done at the London 2012 Olympic Games except for Leslie Copeland who competes today at the main Olympic Stadium.

And the rest of the team decided to go on a sightseeing trip in London. Their first engagement was a visit on board the HMS Ocean which saw action in Libya last year. It is the biggest ship in the British naval fleet. The naval vessel has over a dozen Fijians and the majority of them were present.

The team led by Chef de Mission Chris Yee was met by Captain Andrew Bettom and Fijian members of HMS Ocean.

Captain Bettom welcomed the team saying it was an honour to welcome Team Fiji.

"The Fijians on my ship are the most hardworking and trusted men in this ship and it is my pleasure to greet you and welcome you on board," said Captain Bettom.

Team Fiji was escorted throughout the ship and followed by an entourage of Fijian soldiers in the British Army.

The team also had lunch on board HMS Ocean.

Team Fiji Chef de Mission Chris Yee presented Captain Bettom with a gift and also said that Team Fiji was blessed to be invited on board and also meet with almost all the Fijians on board.

A good number were on duty but took time to come and meet Team Fiji.
