THE Constitution Commission has guaranteed members of the public that it will have an open, free, fair and fearless atmosphere when making submissions.

A member of the commission, Professor Satendra Nandan, told The Fiji Times he and his fellow commissioners would treat every member of the public who wished to make their submission with respect.

"We are determined to hear what they bring to the table, and we will listen to their views," Prof Nandan said.

He said they were impressed to received submissions that were evidently well thought out from the public at large.

Prof Nandan said most people expressed harmony and tolerance among the people that should be part of the new constitution.

He said while some had as part of their submissions issues on the development of this nation and the wellbeing of children, some expressed their views on laws that would safeguard the present and future generations of Fiji.
