THE Labasa Ratepayers Association has given the Labasa Town Council seven days to explain certain queries raised by its members or complaints will be lodged with respective authorities.
In a letter written to the council, the association's secretary Charan Jeath Singh asked the special administrator, Vijay Chand to explain why certain council properties were being disposed of without the knowledge of ratepayers.
"It has been brought to our knowledge that the Labasa Town Council properties are being disposed of to individuals without proper consultations and knowledge of the ratepayers," he wrote.
Mr Singh questioned why a newly purchased vehicle of the council did not have the council emblem on it.
The letter addressed to Mr Chand requested a response within seven days which ends this week.
When contacted yesterday, Mr Chand said he would not comment on the issue as the Ministry of Local Government handled the matter.
