Flood 2012

Last week on Thursday 29th march it started raining It was only raining a suddenly it started raining heavily .It rained so heavily that in the western division e.g. Lautoka ,Nadi ,Navua ,Sigatoka ,Rakiraki and Ba were all flooded .More than 60 houses were under water and 68 evacuation centers were open for the people who live in lower lying areas to stay there .They were also afraid the water level would rise in a few days.In2009 it wasnt as bad as it is 2012 .This is worse than the flood in 2009 duration and disruption to services and business.

Arun Prasad said that he had never seen such thing because the fact that there had been no casualtise reported.

Whole of the Ba town was flooded and the fiji sugar corporation area,veisaru ,namosau ,vutni bridge and yala levu , this is a significant effort by police ,the national fire authority.Dismac(DISATER MANAGEMENT COMMITY)and my team at the Ba town council , said Mr Prasad .

A wooden punt powered by a 40 horsepower engine ,evacuated 26 people in town to D.A.V College  Ba and other 26 people were evacuated from meenoos shop to their home in varadoli .
