REBELS duo Epeli Ratubacaca and Nimilote Lua are the champions of beach volleyball in Fiji.

Yesterday, the two beat Suva I by two sets to one at the National Beach Volleyball Courts in Laucala Bay Suva.

Suva had the services of national reps Aisake Raratabu and Qilu Elliot but they failed to find their form as the Raiwai-based team beat them 21-19 in both sets.

Ratubacaca, 21, was impressive on both days of the tournament that was dubbed the Battle of the Sands National Championships.

He won the award for Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

In the women's final, Sand Stormers disposed of USP 2-0.

Led by national rep Anaseini Seniloli, who is the only overseas-based player in Fiji, and former national rep Finau Waqa, Stormers remained unbeaten in the women's competition.

Seniloli was also awarded the Best Spiker prize for her efforts in the two-day tournament.

Fiji Beach Volleyball Commission (FBVC) secretary Samuela Rabuku said the tournament was a huge success.
