People do business with human beings not companies. And the people are the greatest assets of any company. ELENOA BASELALA introduces the people who have been appointed or are driving the performances in their companies.
Reddy Group
TWO new appointments have been made by the group. Kalpana Reddy, a director of the company said following an in-depth review of the group's human resources, training and development practices, they had decided to appoint a human resources manager and a training and development manager.
"Clearly, there will be a great deal of 'cross over' and dovetailing in the two roles and it is vitally important to the success of this initiative that both managers work harmoniously and are totally in synch with the overall objective," she said.
Alamgeer Shah has been appointed the group's training and development manager. He previously worked at Vodafone Fiji and held several operational roles at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel.
"Alamgeer brings with him a passion for training and development as well as a much needed understanding of the operational needs of a hotel and business operation.
"It is the intention to base Alamgeer at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi to enable him to see first-hand the outcomes of the various training programs we will be conducting in the near future. We will be placing a greater importance on marrying our training activities to the approved Standards of Operating Performance and to those tasked with increasing our revenues. A greater focus will also be placed on developing our departmental managers and while much has been achieved in this area to date, we intend to increase the time and resources on those who perform key roles for the organisation," Ms Reddy said.
Eleen Dayal was appointed the group's human resources manager. Ms Dayal had performed several HR management roles in the hospitality and construction segments of industry.
"Eleen brings with her a thorough understanding of the needs of a modern diverse company operating in today's highly competitive business world," Ms Reddy said.
She will be based at the company's head office in Lautoka. Prior to being appointed to this role, Ms Dayal was the human resources manager at the Laucala Island Resort and Pacific Building Solutions Kabakabarai Development Limited, a Suva-based Property Management Company and has also spent time in operations at the Leleuvia Island Resort .
Ms Reddy also paid tribute to Naveen Lakshmaiya, the outgoing group HR and training manager for his performance over the years and in particular, the work done to establish both the human resources and training functions of the company since its inception and the extensive work done in the development of the professional and social aspects of human resources.
