Down to business

Hello Fiji. Sorry for the silence but it's competition week!!! After the excitement of the opening ceremonies, Team Fiji got down to business and we have all been pretty busy.

Everyone is either competing or preparing to compete in the next couple of days, so things are a little low key at the moment.

Leslie and I left the Village after the weekend to return to our respective training bases because Athletics is not till week two and we need to remain focused and keep away from the distractions, movies and that amazing dining hall! All the food you can eat and more - not a good idea right now!

Personally, I am nervous, excited and full of anticipation all at the same time. I have worked so hard towards this that I cannot wait to see what my body can do on the day and also looking forward to having a break but at the same time don't want it to be over! Such conflicting emotions.

I had an intense therapy/treatment session yesterday and got to train alongside Usain Bolt's friend and training partner Jamaican 400m sprinter Jermaine Gonzalez at a remote location that I am not allowed to disclose. For three hours I was twisted, adjusted and every muscle in my body prodded until it hurt. OUCH. But the end justifies the means and I felt great afterwards during my run. Back again today for some more - and then a final session tomorrow before my race on Friday! Once the weekend is over, I am hoping to interview some of the Team Fiji athletes for my diary so watch this space.

Loloma from London,
