Fire at island hospital

A fire broke out at Vunisea Subdivision Hospital in Kadavu.

And Police has confirmed that the fire started at 6pm at the outpatients department.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said four male patients had to be evacuated to the road supervisor's residence.

"They are now at the Public Works Department (PWD)," Ms Naisoro said.

She said with the help of the government service rugby team, police managed to stop the fire from spreading.

Ms Naisoro said the estimated cost was $10,000.

She said investigations were continuing.

Meanwhile, the National Fire Authority has expressed concerns at the rising number of structural fires around the country.
