WALK On Walk Strong (WOWS) organisers are calling for support from the general public as it gears up for two much anticipated events — the Vanessa Quai concert on Friday night and the morning walk on Saturday.

"We need as many people as we can to support this cause," WOWS board member Makeleta Liebrehts said.

"WOWS is about supporting children suffering from cancer," Ms Liebrehts said.

"We've had adults with cancer speaking out about this disease but who has spoken out for our children?

"We need to raise as much awareness on this cause and get people involved because cancer affects everyone," she said.

The WOWS concert will feature Ms Quai and various local artists and will be held at the Vodafone Arena on Friday night from 6pm.

The WOWS walk will begin at 7am on Saturday.

The Ba football team has pledged their support behind the campaign and will join in the early morning walk.

"We want the number of people walking on Saturday morning to increase from last year," Ms Liebrehts said.

Save it or Shave it will be held following the walk after 9am at the Vodafone Arena.
