THIRTY women market vendors in Tavua successfully completed a three-day workshop on managing their income.
Organised by the Ministry of Women in collaboration with the Tavua Town Council, the program is in line with the government's initiative of empowering grassroot women and small business operators.
TTC chief executive officer Tulsi Ram said the training was the first of its kind organised for the vendors.
"These vendors were educated on how to best manage their incomes and the skills and techniques to expand their businesses," Mr Ram said. "Most of these vendors have been here for years but they lacked the knowledge on how to manage their finances so this workshop has been helpful to them."
Ministry official Tulia Tabuatalei said the women were given first-hand training of bookkeeping. She said the 30 graduates had learnt a lot from the workshop and she was hopeful that the gospel would be spread to their family members.
