XINFA Aurum Exploration (Fiji) Limited is expected to ship out a total of 70,000 tonnes of bauxite to China at the end of next month.

This was confirmed by company spokesman Basilio Vanuaca who said this was the second shipment of bauxite for this year.

"Right now, the loading of bauxite is underway and it's progressing well," Mr Vanuaca said.

"We aim to export 70,000 tonnes during this shipment and this will be more than the first shipment which only took 60,000 tonnes across to China," he said.

"The second shipment is expected to rake in a substantial amount of money in the country," he added.

Mr Vanuaca earlier said the Bua bauxite mine was expected to generate about $25million annually in the country from the expected 12 shipments. He said the mine would export an estimated two million tonnes of bauxite from Nawailevu over the next two years.

It was earlier reported the Nawailevu bauxite mine in Bua has injected about $34million to set up the operation, and this includes social obligation cost, education, church aid and employment.
