AFTER a decade of sitting on floors during classes, preschoolers of Tabucola Valibar Sangam Primary School were given sets of desks and chairs — creating a more comfortable learning environment for the students.
Kind donors from the Operations Christmas Child Samaritan Purse handed over to the school management about $6000 worth of furniture, gardening tools and cabinets.
Group leader Reverend Viliame Fatiaki said the school had asked for their assistance.
"Our group, which was founded by Franklyn Graham in the United States helps children all over the world," Mr Fatiaki said.
"Our help has also included Christmas gifts for children and our kids in Fiji are included as well. We want to help children in all areas and this is one way," he said.
"In creating a better learning environment for our kids, especially from preschool level, we are helping to prepare them for the primary and secondary school level," he added.
Mr Fatiaki said the group had helped a lot of schools in Fiji.
"We have also assisted schools in Yasawa islands and other outer islands all aimed at helping children in our community," he said.
School officials present at the handing over ceremony thanked the group for their help labelling the kind act as a boost to their childrens' learning environment.
