THE city of Suva came to a standstill as police officers marched through the Capital city yesterday in a changing of the guard ceremony at Government House.
The march began from the Suva Flea Market with a combined band through town from Rodwell Road, Victoria Parade and to the Government House main gate.
Fiji Police Force will be providing 12 new guards who will take over from the 12 old guards from the Fiji Military Forces. The ceremony also caught the eyes of some tourists who lined up along Victoria parade to watch the police officers march.
The police brass band also performed during the ceremony.
This is a revived tradition from December 2006 where the RFMF would take over guarding duties from the Fiji Police Force.
