TWO Fiji candidates have been chosen to join the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET).
Nilofa Patel of Lautoka and Adi Litia Nailatikau of Suva will leave the country soon on an exchange program of the Japanese government to be assistant learning teachers in Japan.
At the farewell for the candidates, Japanese ambassador Eiichi Oshima said the program, which was into 26th year, aimed to promote grassroots international exchange between Japan and other nations.
"Ms Nailatikau and Ms Patel make up the second dispatch of the JET program participants from Fiji and they will be based in Miyakojima City," Mr Oshima said.
He advised the candidates to take full advantage of the opportunity to stay in Japan and deepen their understanding of the Japanese culture and people.
"I trust that on your return home after the completion of your assignment, you will share your experiences and knowledge with your colleagues and youth in Fiji."
He said the program would contribute towards further enhancing the friendly relations between Fiji and Japan.
