BSP Life has appointed two new directors, Ross McDonald and Robin Fleming.

"We are privileged to secure the services of these two very qualified and experienced professionals,"

BSP Life managing director, Malakai Naiyaga said.

"They have a wealth of experience at board and executive management levels of businesses and financial corporations in Pacific island countries."

Mr McDonald served the Burns Philip Group for 13 years holding executive positions in Vanuatu, Fiji and Papua New Guinea before being appointed general manager of their Pacific Operations.

In 1992, he joined WR Carpenter (SP) Ltd as managing director before taking the same role in Credit Corporation (Fiji) Ltd in 2001 until March this year.

Mr McDonald is a fellow of CPA Australia and a member of the Fiji Institute of Accountants.

Mr Fleming has been in the banking industry for over 30 years and has held various executive positions with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and the Papua New Guinea Banking Corporation (PNGBC).

He joined PNGBC in 1986 and in 2002 it was privatised and purchased by Bank of South Pacific, Papua New Guinea (BSP).

He had been actively involved with the development of strategic direction, risk management practices and operations planning for BSP.

He is currently the deputy chief executive officer and group chief risk officer of BSP in PNG.

He is a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

"Our businesses are at a critical stage of development after rebranding to BSP Life. Therefore we will benefit a great deal from the contributions that will be made by Ross and Robin as we focus our attention on the next phase of our growth.

"We look forward to a rewarding and fruitful association with them," Mr Naiyaga said.

The BSP Life board includes BSP Group chief executive, Ian Clyne who is the chairman and two independent directors who are former insurance executives, Edward Waters and Kenneth Boag.
