Total dollar market value rises at week end

THE overall capitalisation of the market rose 1.11 per cent ending the week at a value of $779,661,467.

The activity on the SPSE e-trading platform increased considerably this week with 158,465 securities witnessing trades in 21 transactions garnering $188,820 in consideration.

The market heavy-weight, Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited (ATH) and the restricted security, Fijian Holdings Limited (FHL) were the most active stocks this week.

Last week 29 transactions were executed with 36,323 securities exchanging hands collecting $48,350 in value.

Moreover in-terms of the overall order flow, the market saw a positive trend as $487,895 worth of new orders were registered on the trading platform during the week under review.

The SPSE Total Return Index (STRI) remained flat for the first three days but rose 0.01 per cent during trading on Thursday after an aggregate positive price return of 0.64 per cent was noted due to price fluctuations in FGP and FHL.

The accumulation index rose a further 1.09 per cent during trading on Friday after another positive price return was generated by ATH.

Over the week, the STRI rose 19.45 points (1.11 per cent) concluding at a value of 1774.10.

Price Gainers

FHL saw an increase of 0.71 per cent in its share price closing the week at $2.83.

The stock traded in six transactions with 25,043 shares accumulating $70,771 in consideration.

The stock has a bid to offer spread of $0.06 with the most lucrative bids placed at $2.83.

Furthermore, ATH saw an increase of 2.56 per cent in its share price this week ending at $0.80.

ATH saw a total of 12 trades with 131,824 shares exchanging hands collecting $105,039 in value.

Price Falls

Only a single security witnessed a price fall this week, Foster's Group Pacific Limited (FGP) traded in a single transaction and witnessed a price fall of $0.01 closing the week at $13.16. The stock saw an exchange of 454 shares accumulating $5,975 in consideration.

No Movements

BSP Convertible Notes Limited (BCN) saw two trades this week with 1,144 notes exchanging hands collecting in $7,036 in value.

Other Market Highlights

There are now three bid-only and four offer-only securities on the market at the end of trading today. Foster's Group Pacific Limited (FGP) still ranks as the widest bid-offer margin security with a spread of $4.18 with ATH now posing as the narrowest bid to offer margin security with a spread of $0.03.
