THE Hidden Paradise of Savusavu has welcomed the idea of establishing a new National Training Productivity Centre under the Fiji National University banner in the area.
This was made known by Labasa and Savusavu special administrator Vijay Chand while opening the annual Industry Discussion Forum at the Hot Springs Hotel last week.
"While we are happy to note FNU is enjoying a great market presence, it's a relief that students don't have to travel to Viti Levu and abroad for further studies as courses are offered right at their doorsteps," Mr Chand said.
Centre deputy director Satendra Nair said plans were in the pipeline to establish a Savusavu campus.
"There are a lot of economic opportunities there especially in the hospitality and information technology fields," he said. "If we have strong support from the hoteliers, we will have no problem setting up a campus in the area. We are looking into providing hospitality, information technology and automotive studies for students there."
