Reward for hardworking officers

OFFICERS in the Fiji Police Force who work hard will be rewarded.

This was the word from Police Commissioner Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua on Friday.

He said this and many other lessons had been learnt from the Singapore Police Force in their training exercises earlier this month.

"We looked at the human resources and our objective was to find out how they did it in Singapore, how they were cared for and how they looked after the human resources that we should value most," he said.

"We looked at the issue of rewards, how they rewarded those that worked hard.

"Most importantly we looked at things based on merit, that means you work hard, you're rewarded and recognised."

Brig-Gen Naivalurua also warned officers who did not meet the standards of the force.

"For those that are dishonest or unscrupulous in their behaviour, I will not tolerate any of this," he said.

"We are going to tighten the noose on those officers who continue to misbehave or act unscrupulously. We are going to take you on."
