DRIZZLING rain accentuated the solemn occassion at Ratu Sukuna Memorial School yesterday as students bid their final farewells to one of their mates.
The school came to a standstill yesterday as they held a memorial service for Jovilisi Qoroya, who passed away last Friday.
School principal Lepani Bataba said he had been visiting Qoroya when he was admitted at the hospital.
He said on one occasion, Qoroya asked him whether he would be able to come back to school or not and Bataba assured him he will but that was not meant to be.
"I went to visit him once and he asked me, 'Sir, will I live? Will I ever play again? Will I come back to school," Bataba said.
"I replied to him and I quote: You will live, you will play again and you will come back to school," he said with tears in his eyes.
The incident was an eye-opener and generated a lot of critics calling for more measures to be put up to prevent injuries as such.
