THE Reserve Bank of Fiji is supporting agriculture through a sponsorship of the Agriculture Show to be held next month in Lautoka.
"The Bank will increase its financial sponsorship package to $12,000 this year. This includes $10,000 as part of the Silver Sponsorship Package and $2,000 in cash prizes for the Farmer and Young Farmer of the Year Awards," RBF governor, Barry Whiteside said.
Mr Whiteside added the agricultural show was an excellent initiative given the importance of the sector to economic development, particularly in increasing exports, promoting local value adding and import substitution.
It would support Fiji's balance of payments, Mr Whiteside said.
"The Reserve Bank together with its partners from the financial industry look forward to promoting the agriculture sector and sustainable energy projects through exhibitions and seminars throughout the week," a RBF statement said.
