NEWCOMERS impressed at the fourth 2012 Triathlon Business House Series which was held in Suva last Saturday.

A total of 10 teams — 39 participants — competed in the day-long event which included individual and team supersprint, sprints and Olympics events.

The newcomers in the team category included Forum Secretariat 1, Forum Secretariat 2, AquaSafe, Frogs and Wombat.

The individual debutantes in the business house series were Danny Hunter, Sarah Pene, Willie Morall and Louis Morall.

"The AquaSafe team was the highlight of the day, with their cyclist the 2011 Tour of Fiji Cycling Champion Gael Leopold having a significant influence on their first place finish in the men's team sprint event," Fiji Triathlon Association president Andrew Pene said.

"Coming into the event as the unknown team, AquaSafe managed to sprint ahead of the unsuspecting MBHS team who will now have to be more alert at the remaining two events of the series if they wish to defend their position on the series' overall points table."

Meanwhile, Petero Manoa leads the men's individual Olympic event (1500m Swim/40k Bike/10k Run) with 10 points while Nau Dakuliga leads the women's grade with 10 points as well. In the men's individual sprints event (750m Swim/20k Bike/5k Run), Isikeli Rawlinson is placed on top with 15 points while Dakuliga leads the women's category with five points.

Toma Pene leads the men's individual supersprint event (400m Swim/10k Bike/ 2.5k Run) with 10 points.

In the Olympic team events, PWD leads the men's grade while BodyLife tops the women's grade.

MBHS team is placed first in the sprint event while BodyLife and Police lead the women's grade. In the team supersprint event, MBHS I and PWD II lead the men's and women's grade respectively.
