A TOTAL of 10,609 people were registered by the electronic voter registration (EVR) team on Saturday, taking the total number of people registered so far to 84,330.
According to figures released from the Elections Office, the Central Division on Saturday registered 3496 people while the Western Division registered 4223, Northern Division 2562 and the Eastern Division 328 people.
Meanwhile, the Namosi Joint Venture (NJV) last week facilitated the EVR of over 70 local employees, contractors, and members of the local community at its Waisoi Camp in Namosi.
In a statement, NJV said it sought approval from the Roko Tui Namosi, who's in charge of the registration process in the province if the registration could be done at Waisoi camp and this was agreed to.
NJV then ensured that workers had all the necessary documents required for the registration process.
The kitchen and accommodation supervisor Maria Samuels welcomed the opportunity to register.
"This was a big help for us as we did not have to travel all the way to an urban centre. I am really happy to be given this opportunity," she said.
NJV country manager Greg Morris told employees that the right to vote was a fundamental right and the company wanted to ensure that all its employees could register despite being in a remote location.
