Getting it right

Kalara Vusoniwailala Of Mango Cafe
Friday, July 13, 2012

When approached by The Fiji Times to take part in today's dining feature, I thought, "What to advertise?", and nothing felt true, worth reading. As a notorious marketer, I feel that talking about food, ambience, service and style does not inspire the average customer. The proof is in the pudding; not the talk that is so-o-o-o hard to walk! So what we've decided is to be raw and real about Mango Cafe, and ask you to help us make it work, because that's the Fiji way.

Mango Cafe, we're four years old and have evolved into a fully fledged restaurant and outdoor beer & wine garden. We are blessed to be in an excellent location, Nasese, five minutes from Suva CBD and when we're not fighting with Matua Taxis, have massive free parking outside our 52 Ratu Sukuna Road restaurant.

"What's Mango Cafe like?" Quite frankly, we're gorgeous. Beautiful relaxed ambience of casual urban Pacific groove? individual table tops by premier Pacific artists, outdoor garden dining to more sedate upstairs seating, all saying "enjoy" and then I have been known to ruin it all by screaming with frustration at our hard-working, fabulous team for not following one of my systems. Weilei!

Running a restaurant that offers Pacific cuisine with an urban flair is not easy and Lord help all when my temper gets going! But thank God for great friends, I am now under counselling and have gone one month without yelling at anyone - oh except my Mom because she is my Mom.

In a nutshell, Mango Cafe is the place to be because we truly care about getting it right. Our vision is to create a space where great food, with first class coffee and desserts meets focused customers.

From our all-day breakfast menu to our legendary beef curry, fall- off- the-bone tender lamb shanks and monthly specials - like July's Hot Soups (Seafood Chowder, Oxtail soup, etc) - you can't go wrong with our excellent menu, or over one of our ice-cold beers. Put simply, Mango Cafe, come join us - because we really are "Flavours of Fiji".
