THE World Wide Fund for Nature South Pacific and Post Fiji have launched a collector stamp in an effort to celebrate the life of the endemic and magnificent collared lory, the kula.
The stamp issue highlights the important role the bird has played for centuries in the traditional, cultural and economic advancement of Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.
Launching the stamps, WWF South Pacific conservation director Sally Bailey said they would help raise awareness of Fiji wildlife.
Ms Bailey said: "The stamp, which is a souvenir/collector edition, can also be used around the world to showcase the essence of the kula in Fiji."
Post Fiji's Philatelic Bureau manager Isaac Mow said the launch marked another milestone for all efforts to create awareness of Fiji's wildlife through stamps.
