PACIFIC Transport used $2 million to expand its fleet of air-conditioned buses.
Launching the eight new metallic gold coloured buses in Suva this week, Pacific Transport's sister company Shreedhar Motors Limited said the new additions brought to 20 the number of air-conditioned coaches in the company's fleet.
Pacific Transport now has 80 new buses, 12 of which are Creator coaches along with the recent acquisition of eight Fashion buses.
Shreedhar Motors chief executive officer Arvin Narayan said the eight Fashion coaches — each catering for a maximum of 63 passengers — were built to suit Fiji's road and climate conditions.
Registration plates of the new buses bear the name of local hardwood trees as a tribute to the wood Fiji's first buses were built from.
Mr Narayan said more buses would be imported through the tax break offered on imported buses.
