THE organisers of the 2012 Vodafone Fiji Farmers Carnival are confident they have raised enough money to fund the education of underprivileged children in Lautoka.
Organising committee head, Udit Narayan said although the figure was yet to be finalised, the money raised would be enough to sponsor the students. "We are confident that the money raised during the festival would be enough to pay for the children's school fees for next year. Last year we raised $18,000 and was able to sponsor students from poor families in Lautoka and we know we can help them again next year," he said.
Mr Narayan said the overwhelming support from the people of Lautoka also made the carnival a success.
He said "Putting together a carnival of this nature is very difficult especially if you have only five committee members but with the help of our sponsors and our corporate partners we were able to organise another successful farmers carnival."
