A total of 9124 people have registered to vote as of Thursday — the third day of voter registration in the country.
This was confirmed to The Fiji Times by permanent secretary for Elections, Mere Vuniwaqa via an electronic mail (email) on Thursday night.
The number of people who registered on Thursday had slightly decreased when compared to 3382 who had registered on Wednesday. Ms Vuniwaqa said 3267 people in the country had registered to vote on Thursday.
According to the figures provided in the email sent by Ms Vuniwaqa 1129 people registered in Suva, 939 in Nausori, 515 in Labasa, 387 in Lautoka, 217 in Levuka and 80 in Taveuni.
She earlier told this newspaper the response from the general public has been positive and the registration numbers are expected to increase in the coming days.
