THE six contestants competing for the Miss Vodafone Fiji Farmers Carnival 2012 crown have described as "rewarding" the experience of being part of such a festival.
Although only one walked away with the crown last night, the contestants felt they have gained more than just a crown from the week-long carnival.
"For me coming into this festival, it wasn't about winning a crown, it was about learning and experiencing what it's like to be part of a pageant and also learn how to be a good ambassador for youths," said Miss Saweni Sector Mary Raqi.
Miss Natova Sector Kartika Gounder said the carnival had been a joyous experience for her.
"It has been really fun and I've learnt a lot about the farming community in Lautoka and the issues that needs to be addressed when it comes to underprivileged families," said Ms Gounder.
"Parents in poor families need to know that they can get assistance for their children's education. They need to know that there are avenues for children."
