Namosi move

WARDENS rugby stars Apisai Nayabo, Sailosi Naiteqe, Ilai Tinai, N. Lagilagi, Levani Botia, Jale Vota, Joji Ragamate and Niko Verekauta could likely to feature for Namosi in the B division competition. The Warden Officers, have been named to attend the finals trials at Thomson Park in Navua today to select the Namosi team.

Fourth finish

THE Fiji athletics team finished fourth at the recent Oceania Athletics Championship that was held in Cairns, Australia last week. New Zealand won 31 gold, 13 silver and 8 bronze while Australia finished second with 29 gold. North Australia had 21 gold to finish at third position while Fiji had 11 gold medals, 6 silver and 2 bronze. Eleven athletes in the Fiji teams are secondary school students while only two athletes were based in Australia. Fiji team manager Litia Senibulu said they did not have much time to prepare, however, the athletes competed well against the other best in the Oceania. Ama, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, Guam, Polynesie de Francaise, New Caledonia, American Samoa, Solomon and Samoa all finished behind Fiji.

Sila down

THE Ratukavulevu School under 14 rugby team demolished Sila Central High School 17-0 during their Eastern zone Secondary School rugby match on Wednesday at the Sila Central school grounds. RKS scored three tries and proved too strong for Sila as their mobile forwards controlled the game. Sila, with the home crowd advantage struggled to cope with the pace of the game.

Unbeaten teams

QUEEN Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School Under-18 teams are the only unbeaten teams in the Eastern zone competition. Defending champions QVS is on bye this weekend while RKS travels to Naluwai to play Naitasiri Secondary School. RKS defeated Sila Central High School last week 10-8 when the game was called off as it was played late in the evening.

Second defence

NAVULIVATU rugby club is bracing for its second defence of the Vunivalu trophy when they take on Vunibau in the challenge match of the Serua Rugby Union club competition. Navulivatu, a new comer into the competition this year, won the trophy from Waidradra before succesfully defending it against Culanuku last week. However, the Navulivatu rugby camp revealed that the real test would be against the former champions. Kick-off ia at 2.30pm today.

Navua dinner

THE Navua Football Club fundraising dinner has been postponed to next Saturday, following the death of a player's mother. The dinner was scheduled today at the Serua Hall in Naitata, however it will take place at the same venue next week. Contact secretary Ashwin Chand on 9207831 or Gopal Naidu on 9995292.
