LAUTOKA Primary School has a new $187,000 building funded by the Japanese government.
Opened by Japanese Embassy First Secretary Osama Nakamura, the building consists of three new classrooms complete with new furniture.
Mr Nakamura said the project was in recognition by the Japanese government of the importance of education in the overall formula for development and success.
"Japan has prioritised the development of basic facilities at educational institutions in Fiji and the provision of training opportunities in Japan for many Fijian nationals.
"The Lautoka Primary School project is one of the outcomes of such initiatives," said Mr Nakamura.
The building will help cater for the 900 students enrolled at the school. Lautoka Primary is the largest multiracial school in the Lautoka District, providing education from classes One to Eight for students from different parts of this western city.
