Scotland job

FLYING Fijian electrifying scrumhalf Nikola Matwalu is likely to join Scotland's Glasgow Warriors this season.

The star scrumhalf raised eyebrows after a stellar performance against the Scotland team during their one off Test match at Lautoka's Churchill Park last month.

Despite going down 25-37, the Fijians won the hearts of the Scottish team with a wonderful display of Fijian rugby.

Matawalu was the engine in Fiji's performance, making several linebreaks that eventually led to Metuisela Talebula's try under the crossbar in the second spell.

North champ

THE Billy Hussain-coached Taveuni side are the champions of the Northern Premier competition.

The side rounded off the day two of the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries sponsored tournament on an unbeaten note.

Taveuni beat Bua 2-1, Nadogo 1-0, drew with Dreketi 0-0 and Seaqaqa 0-0 to book their spot in the Viti Levu and Vanu Levu playoff.

Hussain told Fiji Football that the win was unbelievable. In the Southern playoff, Tailevu North defeated Levuka 3-2 and Vatukoula edged Rakiraki 2-1.

On top

NADI is the only soccer team to have won their past five National Football League matches in a row.

The Jet-setters latest 2-0 victory over Lautoka guaranteed the top of the table spot for them with 26 points.

Lautoka is second with 22 while Fiji Fact champions, Suva is third with 22 after a 3-0 victory over Rewa last Sunday.

FIFA award

FIJI Football Referees Committee secretary Hari Raj Naicker was awarded the FIFA Order of Merit by the Oceania Football Confederacy president David Chung during the 62nd FIFA Congress at the Budapest Congress and World Trade Centre last May.
