FIJIAN powered Negri Sembilan Wanderers defeated Sibu RC to win the Power International Royal Sevens title in Malaysia over the weekend.
The side which has services of five Fijians won their seventh title beating the arch-rivals 21-19 in a close tussle at the Seremban Municipal Council (MPS) ground.
Sibu drew the first blood via solo effort from Fijian Esalia Nadraku before Michael Andrew Navuliwaqu scored for the Wanderers.
Iowane Sovatabula Takaisalili of Sibu scored to lead 14 -7 at break before former Fiji 7s rep Ponipate Kato scored twice to win 21-19. Takaisalili scored Sibu's third try.
Cup games
THE Digicel Cup games will resume proper following a layoff due to Fiji's international matches last month. Six matches will be played this weekend, which will be round 8 of the competition.
Table toppers Tailevu will take on bottom placed Rewa on Friday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Suva and Naitasiri match on Saturday at Albert Park is poised to be the match of the round.
Purple thon
THE NewWorld Suva Netball Association held their Purple walk-a-thon last Saturday from 6.30am-8.30am.
The participants wore purple to support the elimination of violence against women and children.
Attractive prizes were also at the stake first walker home, eldest walker, youngest walker, best dressed walker (something purple) and largest team to walk receiving the honours.
Gold netball
THE Fiji Gold Nasinu Netball Association will hold its finals next week Thursday at the National Netball Centre in Laucala.
Champions Adi Cakobau School Old Girls (ACSOG) will face Tailevu in the premier grade final.
In the senior grade showdown, Creed takes on Covenant Sisters 2 while Nawavatu will play Classic Apparel in the reserve grade final.
Cove stop
MUSKET Cove will be one of the stopovers for the participants competing in the World Arc Rally (sailing).
The race which started in the Caribbean early this year will end in April next year.
Twenty nine boats are part of this inaugural event from the participating 14 countries.
Musket Cove general manager Olivia Mavoa said some boats have already arrived and others were expected to port in soon.
The participants will leave for Vanuatu, which is the next stopover, this Saturday.
Top reps
TOP players are set to return for the Labasa side in the July transfer window.

FORMER Suva player Pita Rabo scored a late goal to salvage Wairarapa United in their 2-2 draw with Wellington Olympics over the weekend.
Experienced Rabo's header was similar to the one he netted to give Wairarapa United a 2-1 win over Napier City Rovers in their earlier match.
