Dispute over facts in case

TWO men seeking bail in the Suva Magistrates Court told told Magistrate Lashika Fernando that they disagreed with the summary of facts presented to them.

Lepani Matea and Joeli Pulu argued that the items they were charged with stealing had all been recovered. The State lawyer after looking at the summary of facts admitted it was for another case in which one of the pair's co-accused was involved in.

He said he was still objecting to the pair's bail application because not all of the items they stole had been recovered.

When the two accused asked about their bail application, Magistrate Fernando said the hearing yesterday was for mention only and that she would rule on their application later.

Magistrate Fernando ordered the pair be remanded in custody until July 5 this year.

She said she would rule on their bail application after sorting out the summary of facts and establishing the status of the stolen items.
