AS it has been in the past few years, the fourth Kaila! Star Search is yet becoming another popular event to look forward to every Saturday.

Hibiscus Event Group executive secretary Aqela Cakobau said a total of 45 contestants registered for the Kaila! Star Search this year, out of which 13 had been chosen for the semi-finals from heats one and heat two.

She said they were left with heat three of the search that would take place this Saturday where another seven would be chosen to compete in the semi-finals.

"There have been a good turnout of audience in the last two heats and people were really amazed to see the quality of talents Fiji had," Ms Cakobau said.

"Kaila! Star Search is the place to be if you want to see the uprising talent of Fiji," she said.

The semi-finals will take place on July 28 where 20 to 21 semi-finalists will compete followed by the grand finale on August 18.

The Kaila! Star Search that used to be a singing-only competition now includes talents like dancing, musical bands, singing, instrumentalists and poetry.

"We have decided to combine our two talent competitions, namely the Kaila! Star Search and Fiji has Talent and to develop the competition to be a platform for showcasing the many talents that abound in the country," Ms Cakobau said.

Meanwhile, The Fiji Times, a major sponsor and promoter of the competition, made a sponsorship of $11,000 just to bring out the local talent, skills, knowledge and confidence of young people.
