In 1999 the World football governing body FIFA set up the Goal Project scheme. As a member association Fiji FA applied for the country's first national football academy and thus the application was approved in 2001.

Two years later Fiji saw its first national football academy which is situated in Ba. The facility had office, accommodation, dining and two training pitches.

Having the luxury of this facility Fiji FA was now able to provide the various national teams with the best facilities to prepare for international meets.

Conduct various coaching and referees course to upskill locals and most importantly run junior and senior coaching clinics.

FIFA Goal Project II

After the successful completion of the first goal project Fiji FA qualified for a second project.

Fiji FA board decided that the Southern Division of the country would be an ideal location.

Nadawa was sighted as a perfect location for the second project but because of some legal issues Fiji FA was not able to secure and thus Fiji FA went in search for a new location.

An ideal site was located in Vatuwaqa and thus the project got off the ground.

In 2011 the Fiji FA Goal project II was completed.

The new facility was going to be the new home for Fiji FA as its headquarters was relocated, like Ba it also provided accommodation, dining, and office and training facilities.

The third goal project will include a training pitch at this new venue and the next goal project has already been eyed for Vanua Levu.
