SCA Hygiene Australasia and the Wrigley Company have jointly contributed $A20,000 ($F36,750) to the Red Cross Fiji Flood Appeal to assist with disaster relief for more than 150,000 people following severe flooding since January 2012.

In a statement, SCA Hygiene Australasia's Pacific general manager Eldon Eastgate said, "In making this donation, we hope to provide some much-needed support to the communities affected."

"SCA is pleased to be able to assist Red Cross as it works to provide emergency disaster relief, ongoing risk reduction work and training in communities around the country.

"Red Cross Fiji is doing a fantastic job helping the most vulnerable people in our community and we are pleased to be able to support that work."

The Wrigley Company's Pacific export manager, Graeme Thomson, said as long-term commercial partners, Wrigley and SCA shared a proud heritage of conducting business in a socially responsible manner, building strong relations with communities across Fiji.

"Since January, we have been working together to help local retailers, particularly in the west, to rebuild their merchandising fixtures as part of the recovery process," he said.
