THE Lands Ministry will relocate 82-year-old Sovaia Talakubu and other families from Veidogo settlement in Nasese.
In an article published by The Sunday Times, Mrs Talakubu prayed for a miracle to save her family from development taking place where they lived.
Acting Lands Ministry permanent secretary Tevita Boseiwaqa confirmed the families, except one which has yet to accept the offer, would be relocated today to Sasawira, Nausori with free water and electricity connections.
Mr Boseiwaqa said the area was for a residential development lease to be developed by FIESTY Limited. "The lease was awarded to the company under normal development leasing terms and conditions subject to other special requirements, including the submission of an Environmental Impact Assessment report and the payment of fishing rights recompense amounting to $364,093," Mr Boseiwaqa said.
Mrs Talakubu said she did not mind moving as long as government helped her family relocate.
