NADI maintained pole position in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League following a 3-0 victory over a depleted Labasa team at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

The Kamal Swamy-coached side came alive in the second spell after a cautious first half.

Krishneel Krishna scored the opening goal in the 56th minute. Krishna's cross took a deflection off a Labasa defender with the ball ending up at the back of the net.

Netani Doli doubled Nadi's advantage in the 78th minute after Ratu Josefata Dugucagi and Uraia Loki combined well from the halfway mark.

Loki sent Doli a through pass and he calmly slotted the ball in.

Nadi scored the third goal on the stroke of full time through Loki. This was Nadi's second win in as many days. On Thursday the Jetsetters defeated Nadroga 1-0.

Nadi coach Kamal Swamy was happy with his team's performance.

He said they had maintained their form.

"We missed some scoring opportunities," Swamy said.

"Certainly the input from our newly appointed technical advisor Imdad Ali has been great."

Labasa missed the services of regulars Akuila Mateisuva, Penaia Bale, Apisalome Turuva, Taione Kerevanua, Waisea Drauna, Vikrant Chandra and Nalinesh Reddy all of whom failed to travel with the side.

With the win Nadi now has 23 points and is ahead of Lautoka and Ba on 19 points each and Suva on 16 points.

In today's matches, Lautoka will face Savusavu at Churchill Park, Rewa will host Ba at Ratu Cakobau Park while Nadroga will play Labasa at Lawaqa Park. All three matches kick off at 3pm. The match between Navua and Suva has been shifted to Ratu Cakobau Park and will kick off at 6pm after the Rewa versus Ba fixture.
