THE Fiji Football Association called off the Suva and Savusavu National Football League clash at Ratu Cakobau Park on Friday night.
This was after broken electricity lines led to power disruption in the Nausori area.
The Fiji Sun/GP Batteries sponsored NFL clash was scheduled for 7pm, however, the power was disrupted around six in the evening.
Fiji FA officials at the scene told both teams that the game would continue at 8pm if the Fiji Electricity Authority workers managed to complete work on the disrupted power lines before eight. However, the power supply was back at normal around 9. NFL board secretary Jainendra Sukhu said Savusavu opted not to feature in the match as their players were tired from long travel.
Savusavu coach Manoj Lal said it was unfortunate that the power was disrupted.
"This kind of things, do happen. We travelled from Savusavu around four this morning (Friday) and we arrived here in the afternoon. It is good that the game was called off so we can rest before we leave for the west to play Lautoka on Sunday (today)," Lal said.
Sukhu said Savusavu would later play Suva prior to the BOG next month.
"They are left to play Nadi and Nadroga so when they come for this game they will also play Suva."
