STAFF members of the Bank of Baroda in Labasa took time out yesterday to give blood to the Labasa Hospital.
Bank branch manager Vinod Prasad said they started giving blood in 2009.
"We made arrangements with the health staff and more than 100 people offered to donate blood today (yesterday)," Mr Prasad said.
"This is out of generosity for the sake of helping the sick people.
"It might be a small contribution but it surely will go a long way for a person who is in dire need of blood."
Mr Prasad said they would continue to help give the gift of life in years to come.
North medical officer Dr Romakin Pablo earlier said the initiative was part of the World Blood Donor Day that was celebrated in the country last week.
"This is part of the blood service's drive as we are facing blood shortage in the hospital," Dr Pablo had said.
"There are more than 10 schools in Labasa that have partnered with us."
