FOR the first time ever, locals will feature as background dancers in a Bollywood movie production after 29 students were hand-picked by dance maestro Shobna Chanel.
The group will be a part of 3G which is being shot in Nadi.
The dancers, who are students at the Indian Cultural Centre, are between the ages of 11 to 25 years.
The composition of the group represents Fiji's culturally diverse society.
Ms Chanel, who is a dance teacher at the Indian Cultural Centre, said representatives from Eros Cinemas and Gemini Productions decided to go with the dance troupe after visiting the ICC last year.
"We put on a demonstration for them and they were impressed enough to give our team the first ever opportunity for a Fiji dance group to take part in a Bollywood movie.
"The dance group has 16 males and 13 females of Indian, Fijian, Asian, Rotuman and European ethnicity," she said.
The suspense thriller which features Bollywood heart-throb Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan is in the final stages of filming.
The film is expected to be released later this year.
