A SCHOOLteacher appeared in the Magistrates Court yesterday over the alleged rape of a Class Five student.
He appeared before Suva Magistrate Thushara Rajasinghe charged with two counts of rape.
The court heard that on May 26, 2012, the teacher who was based at an island school, allegedly raped a Class Five student on two occasions. According to divisional prosecution southern Inspector Isikeli Raisuni, the victim was a 13-year-old girl.
He said the matter was first called on June 1.
However, the case had been transferred to the High Court by Magistrate Rajasinghe on a date yet to be confirmed.
