CONSTRUCTION has started on the $400,000 extension of the Keiyasi Health Centre.

Assistant Roko Tui Navosa Marika Nagata says the government has provided $400,000 for the project with the aim of improving health services in the area.

Members of the community in Navosa have started digging up the foundation of the new extension, said Mr Nagata.

This project is one of the priority goals initially set up by the government in its efforts to serve the people, especially those in remote areas.

The people in the highlands of Navosa have had serious transportation problems which affected the transportation of sick people to the main urban centres.

The extension of the health centre will bring relief to the villagers and farmers in the surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, work is continuing on the new $750,000 Motokana Rd in the hills of the province.

The work began last year and we expect the official opening to be held at the end of the year, Mr Nagata said, adding the government provided funding for the work.
