Zumba instructor Litiana Miller said the new workout changed peoples interest in dancing.
She was part of a team conducting a zumba class in Suva on Saturday afternoon.
TappooCity events and social media co-ordinator Kaushik Ram said with many peoples busy schedule, it was important to monitor ones health.
This is why we have events like zumba and yoga held here, he said.
The numbers are increasing and there is no age or size limit.
Its all about burning those calories, keeping fit and having fun while youre at it.
Mrs Miller said Pacific Islanders love dancing.
Its a fun workout, she said.
You dont have to drink alcohol or go to the nightclub to dance.
Its good for those who dont like to spend too much effort lifting weights.
Mrs Miller said after an hour of zumba, people are ready to dance again.
