IT is always good to attend a training workshop on something you already know because you might learn something new, says Selina Balemila.

Unlike some of the other participants who graduated from a two-day Singer sewing machine training workshop in Suva, Ms Balemila knows how to operate a sewing machine.

"I've been sewing for others, taking orders, sewing pillowcases, shirts, sulu, dresses which I started way back in 1998," she said.

Despite been a veteran in the sewing field she participated in the workshop at the Fiji National Council for Disabled Persons (FNCDP) complex on Brown Street.

The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Women and Courts Fiji Limited featured sewing trainers from Australia.

"My understanding on the profitability of sewing had been improved. I'll take what I've learnt here and share it with our women's club in Sawani and with my daughter," she said.

Forty participants graduated with certificates and were congratulated by FNCDP director Dr Sitiveni Yanuyanutawa.
