THE Rotary Club is assessing small vegetable farmers in Lautoka to determine whether the organisation can further extend help as farmers' lives continue to return to normalcy.
Called the seedling project, the group have assessed farmers living in flood-hit areas, mainly Drasa Seaside, Lovu Seaside, Paipai, Vakabuli, Buabua, Qalitu, Vitogo Village.
Project officer Allan Lockington said they were also targeting individual families that opted to plant their own vegetables.
"We are working very closely with the Ministry of Agriculture on the project. They will be supplying us with the seedlings that we will be giving to the farmers."
"We will be buying the seedlings from the Ministry of Agriculture using the money that was donated by Rotary New Zealand.
"The money that we got for the project is more than $100,000 with the view to increase that amount with the help of the New Zealand AID," he said.
